Lessons
from the
Bali
tragedy
It is
clear the
Bali
bombing is part of the war on the
West conducted by Muslim extremists. To start to win this war we must identify
our enemies. To call them terrorists is a generality. Forget about political
correctness and call them what they are: Muslim
fanatics.
Bleeding hearts and do-gooders
The
pathetic pacifists in our midst, including Archbishop Carnley, who immediately
blamed John Howard, because of his support of George Bush, for the tragedy never
learn the lessons of history. The pacifists and appeasers of the 1930’s bear
their share of responsibility for the loss of 40 million lives in World War II.
If the democratic countries had stood up to Hitler much earlier it is possible
world war could have been averted. Unfortunately the Social Science departments
of our universities are indoctrinating ever increasing numbers of students who
graduate as self-righteous bleeding hearts and go on to become judges,
academics, journalists, clergy and opinion leaders. Eventually they may become
the dominant culture.
God help
us all then.
The
Indonesian government has failed miserably in its duty of care to protect the
tourists who underpin the
Bali
economy. The Indonesian government has raked
off billions in taxes from
Bali
tourists over the past 30 years and provided
very little infrastructure to support tourists or the Balinese people in return.
Bali
’s medical facilities are primitive and
woefully inadequate by any standards.
Some victims of the
Bali
blast waiting for medical attention had to
lie alongside of each other for hours in pools of blood without painkillers or
even a drink of water.
The
Australian government also has a duty of care to warn its citizens of inadequate
health, safety and security facilities wherever the citizens go. While
Australia
has stringent laws regulating fire and safety
procedures in public buildings our officials allow thousands of its citizens to
go to incredibly dangerous places in other parts of the world without comment. The
Sari Club was a deadly fire trap. The club allowed hundreds of people to cram
into a building with an inflammable roof and no emergency exits. I believe our
government’s duty of care extends to warning its citizens of all dangers when travelling
outside
Australia
.
It is time
for our government to provide us with clear risk assessments of all significant
travel destinations. The assessments should include medical facilities, general
security, safety standards of hotels, public buildings and public transport.
