Dealing with the Muslim terrorist threat

26 November 2003  Martin Lehmann

What if you woke up tomorrow morning to find there is a power failure? You turn on a tap and there is no water. On your portable radio you hear a news flash that terrorists have disabled the water, gas and electricity supplies and it will be some weeks before they are restored. What would you do? How prepared are you to deal with such an emergency?

It behoves all of us to be prepared. Right now it would be prudent to stock up on essentials like water, gas for cooking, food and medicines. See details opposite.

With the essentials taken care of we can set about solving the long term terrorist problem. Terrorism expert Professor Rohan Gunaratna, author of the book Inside al-Qa'ida, declares that the radical Islamic organisation Jemaah Islamiah has been actively recruiting and raising funds in Australia for 10 years. JI has links with Osama bin Laden and al-Qa'ida. There are over 500,000 Muslims living in Australia. The aim of JI and other radical Islamic groups is to overthrow governments and set up a world-wide Islamic state.

Australia has always welcomed people from diverse cultures. But they have always assimilated to produce the vibrant, egalitarian, cohesive culture that is uniquely Australian. I believe the current government policy of ethnic separatism (multiculturalism) is encouraging the formation of a fifth column comprising people who have little in common with Australian values and customs and who give their primary allegiance to Islam and in some cases, to terrorist organisations.

Strengthen our internal defences

Each concerned person should lobby his or her members of parliament to bring about the following legislative changes:

Immigration

Require all intending immigrants to:

  • Pass a test in written and spoken English.
  • Display a knowledge of Australian history, values, culture and customs.
  • Have suitable employment skills.

Oath of Allegiance

Before being granted citizenship, migrants must swear an oath of allegiance first and foremost to Australia, its values, customs and laws before allegiance to any other country, culture or religion.

Multiculturalism

Immediately dismantle all the machinery of multiculturalism. Cease funding of ethnic councils. Cease funding of schools indoctrinating children into Islam. Catholic schools have replaced indoctrination with the teaching of a curriculum subject Beliefs and Values that studies all religions. Islamic schools should follow suit.

National ID Card

According to the federal government, there are 14,000 illegal immigrants roaming the country. We urgently need to introduce a national ID card system with severe penalties for anybody employing or transacting with a person who does not produce an ID card.

Fifth column: A body of persons residing in a country who are in sympathy with its enemies, and who are serving enemy interests or are ready to assist an enemy attack.

Surviving terrorist attacks

The Australian government is warning the population to be alert to terrorist attacks without giving specific advice. Any small disruption or scare relating to food supplies usually results in panic buying with supermarket shelves quickly stripped. We suggest you get ahead of the herd and attend to the following. If you stock up wisely most of the food and other items can be consumed over a period of time if and when the terror threat diminishes.

SURVIVAL KIT

WATER

The most essential survival item. Allow 25 litres per person in the household. Buy 25 litre (or larger) plastic drums or jerry cans and fill with tap water. The chlorine in tap water will keep it fresh for a considerable time. Keep the drums covered or in a dark place to inhibit algae growth.

Also buy water purifying agents as you may have to resort to using river or dam water.

Your hot water system holds an emergency supply of water. Access the water by pressing the relief valve at the bottom of the hot water unit. First, switch off the gas or electricity to the hot water system.

LIGHTING

Stock up on torches, candles and preferably a gas lamp. Keep a good supply of matches.

COMMUNICATION

Ensure that you have a charger unit that operates from car to keep your cell phone operating. Also a solar or battery-powered radio is essential.

COOKING

You may need to cook without gas or electricity. Ensure you have a gas cooker or barbecue with more than one gas bottle.

FOOD

Stock up on a  range of long-life foods to supply protein, carbohydrate and vitamins. Powered milk will last up to three years. Flour and yeast for bread making can be kept for long periods in a freezer. Keep a stock of rice and pasta in sealed containers. Canned sardines are cheap, a good source of protein and essential oils and have a shelf life up to three years.

MEDICINE

Keep a well-stocked medical kit.

TOILETRIES

Life can be uncomfortable without these. Keep a good supply of toothpaste, soap and other toiletries

CLOTHING

Make sure you have adequate clothing and bedding to survive a winter in your climate without household heating. Have joggers and hiking boots on hand in case you have to travel on foot.

COMMUNICATION

Keep a portable radio with spare batteries.

YOUR MOTOR VEHICLE

Keep it topped up with fuel. Carry a mini-survival kit including water, torch, medical kit and multi-purpose pocket knife in case an emergency occurs while you are in your car.

PROTECTION

Disruption of water, electricity or food supplies often leads to civil disorder. Citizens need to be able to protect themselves. A gun can be a good means of protection of oneself and one's family. Throughout history citizens have kept weapons to protect themselves and their families. Compulsory military service in neutral Switzerland means that nearly every household contains a military rifle. In the last decade governments in Australia and Britain, egged on by left-wing bleeding hearts, have largely disarmed the citizens while leaving weapons in the hands of criminals. In Australia it is difficult but still possible to legally own a low-powered rifle. Arm yourself with whatever you feel comfortable with.

PROTECTION FROM A C.B.R. (CHEMICAL, BIOLOGICAL OR RADIOLOGICAL) ATTACK

Terrorists could attack with anthrax or smallpox or a "dirty" bomb ( a bomb encased in radioactive material). Check with your local army surplus store for gas masks and protective suits. Be careful about buying outdated gas masks. Early model gas masks contain deadly asbestos.
